Welcome to my seventh weekly update on my genius hour project!
I have made a lot of progress in the time since I have last posted, and I have made significant advances throughout module 2. Right now, I am working on learning how to say different types of clothing. I plan on creating more mnemonics and I also came up with the idea to start creating flashcards. I plan to create quite a few of these flashcards, as they will help me learn these words at an even faster rate than I currently am.

Hello everyone! It has been about two weeks since my last update, and because of that I have a lot to talk about.
I have since halfway through week 4 finished module 1 of my duolingo lessons, and I have since then moved into Plurals and Adjectives. The words are getting more and more complex as I have progressed but it is still manageable. I have also updated my mnemonics google doc with a few more words and have underlined different similarities in words. Next week, I plan on picking up the pace much more than my current rate, and getting, at the very least, halfway through module 2. I have figured out better ways to manage my time so that I can study german even more than I have been. I'll write about how successful that is next week, don't forget to come back and read! I am already a quarter of the way through my time in this genius hour project, and I am almost a quarter of the way through my first 4 duolingo modules. After I finish learning foods I, I will be able to take the first of 8 module tests. I am prepared to take the first module exam either later today or some time before Wednesday of this week. However, there are still 7 more module tests to go. While I should have more than enough time to complete them, I will likely pick up the pace on them.
This is the second week of my German journey. Along this language-learning trail, I have started focusing on foods and animals. I have created a few more mnemonics and updated my google doc with some more notes for me to look at. I also went to my great grandma's for her birthday, and I had an entire conversation with her in German. (Mostly just introductions and asking how her day was, but I was able to keep it going for a bit of time)
Hello, and welcome to my first blog post! This is the first week of my genius hour project, learning German. Right now, I am mainly focusing on the basics and really trying to iron in key phrases and introductory statements. I am also slowly getting into German words for different kinds of food and other minor objects. As you can see, I have been using Duolingo as my main source for learning German, but I have also found other ways to learn more about it. I have started asking people on reddit (specifically, the subreddit r/German) about how different factors of German grammar works and when to use the different variants of "the" in the German language. Another thing I have been doing is talking to my friends in German and having them ask me how to say different things. I have also created a google doc with different words that I struggle with, and I have created mnemonics to help me remember these words better.
Throughout next week, I plan on getting an even better understanding of introductory statements and perhaps moving further into foods and maybe even animals. That being said, I hope you guys have a great rest of your week, and don't forget to come back next week for my next blog post! |
